Established in 1969 by Charles and Annette Thurston, Action Coffee Service is Kansas City's premiere gourmet coffee roastery. We are a family owned and operated business, currently in our second generation of leadership. Bud Thurston has been with the company for nearly thirty years, president since 1985, and actively manages the company on a daily basis.
The First Gourmet Coffees Roasted in Kansas City
Until 1985, the bulk of our business was selling institutional coffees to offices and restaurants in the Kansas City area. That year, under Bud's new direction, we purchased a Royal No. 5 roaster; a true antique that we still use today for small batches of our gourmet coffees. Thus began our gourmet coffee service to coffee houses, espresso bars, and gourmet coffee shops, as well as offices and individuals.
We believe that freshness is of the utmost importance in an excellent gourmet coffee, and use both a large batch and small batch drum roaster to roast our coffees. By using this system we can assure you that you are getting the freshest coffee possible.
Our coffees are roasted to the optimum color and temperature for each varietal. We can also custom roast to your specifications and blend your favorite coffees.
Our Roasting Process:
